It’s Jon Molesky here. I’ve been recruiting exclusively in Automotive Quality for almost 30 years now. This is how I see this one…
A buddy of mine is the Quality Director for a growing automotive supplier in the aluminum world. They have a newly created position since their business is turning more into system integration. As you’d imagine, this new SQM will pen the initial supplier quality manual and build the department from the ground up. It will cover all things you supplier quality folks know: systems, work on advanced product quality launch and problem-solving. This is a company I have worked with in the past with great success because of their mix of products, growth, and people.
The hiring manager of the group is a person who is not a micromanager. He’s a quality professional who allows people to do what they do best with general direction and specific help when needed. This creates a fantastic work environment to achieve everyone’s goals.
They are only willing to bet on someone with vast SQM experience. This has to be a core part of your career and passion. This includes PPAP, APQP, FMEAs, Capability Studies, Gage R & Rs with the latest knowledge of the new quality systems requirements found in automotive.
